Most flights via the UK require a night stop on the return journey, Flights via Amsterdam require two night stops. Flights via Lisbon are overnight so the return night is spent on the aircraft rather than in an hotel,.

You can get the long-haul tickets through www.capeverdejetaway.com It is better to buy the short-haul flights directly but only once your long-haul flights are confirmed as there are no refunds on any airline.

Ryanair flights from Dublin to Porto, with connections to Sal in summer Fridays. Aer Lingus flies from Dublin to Lisbon, daily at 0710 to connect for flights to Sal and Santiago.

G from Dublin found the Lisbon route then via Paris rather than direct worked fine.

"Thanks again so very much for organising flights and accommodation. The girl in Lisbon when we arrived was great and everything was so very organised. The bus was waiting outside at CDG and it only took 40 minutes"

C from Ireland was pleased

"We are back from Cape Verde and would like to thank both of you for all your hard work on organising everything for us ~ it all went like clockwork and the airline was great to travel with. We had a great time in Morabeza and Sal. Thanks again for all your attention to detail ~ and the lovely touch sending us the postcards."

The Fs from Cork booked to Gatwick with enough time to take the TAP flight to Lisbon and then plenty of time for the charter through to Sal.

"But as Friday dawned a heavy sea fog settled over Cork airport - not uncommon with seaside airports in summer. easyJet cancelled and as it turned out the airport stayed shut all day. The Fs rang Cape Verde Jetaway in some despair but were counselled to drive to Dublin. The airport was open and there were plenty of seats to Heathrow. Generously TAP switched the ticket from Gatwick to Heathrow on Business Class at only a modest increase in cost and the Fs arrived in Sal exhausted but just an hour behind their original charter flight."

This shows the risk inherent in using budget airlines and not flying across the day before. Neither Cape Verde Jetaway nor TAP were thanked for spending all day on the phone sorting this out.

T an Irishman living in Faro did not enjoy TAP from Lisbon

"It was one of those well organised flights, a TAP price €630 the whole 2000 km`s from Faro to Sal and back!. Arrived Lisbon on the 4.45 Faro-Lisbon flight, only to be told, flight delayed till 11.05, so, only 5 hours to kill in one of the worlds most boring airports, Although the leather seats were comfortable to start with, it wasn't long before my neck and back needed some serious massaging to ease the pain.
